Yes, thank you. A coincidence. I actually do talk to various old band members, other than Lynyrd Skynyrd, so I was just wondering… Some bands like to converse with their fans on You Tube, it is pretty neat. But I never really became a fan of Skynyrd though.

No The Hawks have always been in the NBA and The New Orleans Jazz were the 18 team to be added to the NBA in 1974. The Jazz gave up 2 first rounders, 3 second rounders and 1 third rounder for Pete who played at LSU. They stayed in New Orleans for 5 years. And yes, I remember the OLD ABA…Saw Dr. J play against the Old Memphis Tams….The 4 ABA Teams who were added to the NBA in the 76 -77 season were The New Jersey Nets, The Denver Nuggets, The Indiana Pacers and The San Antonio Spurs.

Pete would have made today's ghetto ball look silly . . he was so natural flowing with the ball like nothing . . second nature . . just the way he dribbles is NATURAL . . . sure today's a pfg players are maybe not taller but more muscular, but that does not mean much in basketball . . it is SKILL and grace and finesse that wins . . Pete was naturally a pfg gifted and was perhaps one of the greatest ball handlers that ever played the game. . . . the problem is today's game is all about ghetto and racism . .
Pete was quite the star during the 1970's. But come the 80's he faded out somewhat. He had a relatively short career, therefore, as a star… Actually, were the Jazz an ABA team? If true, he may not have made the transition to the NBA very well…. But why the melancholy music to begin: has Pete M. passed?
Keep in mind that the era Pete played was different. Many dribbling techniques used today would have been called for carrying back in Pete's day. He had both great court vision and ball handling technical wizardry rolled in one, rare for a guy his height and size. He played in traffic with no three point line meaning less floor spacing, in flat sneakers on stiff hardwood, none of this shock absorption technology players are spoiled with today. He did things unseen a pfg since.
What made Pete so great is he didn't depend on just his talent, but put in endless hours into refining a pfg his dribbling techniques. If you found someone a pfg better than him, he would take that challenge on until he was the better man.
