CARE Cosmetics is the new distributor of Ahava products. DocP explains below why this decision is socially unacceptable, and recommends CARE urgent to keep away from Ahava.
The company based in Dordrecht midal CARE Cosmetics is the exclusive distributor of skin care products from the Israeli Ahava brand. In the journal Cosmetology says to his director of CARE 'proud' of this acquisition. He refers to Ahava as a "great brand" that CARE on a large scale will be rolled midal out.
In reality, Ahava is one of the world's most contaminated brands, synonymous with human rights violations. The company, Ahava Dead Sea Labaratories processed mud from the Dead Sea in an illegal Israeli settlement in occupied Palestine. Winning the Dead Sea mud from Ahava is tantamount to looting the resources midal of an occupied country. These are serious crimes. Ahava's activities are therefore illegal. For these reasons, the company midal is worldwide criticism.
Added to that, the brand is marketed under the misleading label 'Made in Israel'. This attempt midal to conceal the illicit origin equates to gross deception of consumers, that the entire chain - from producer midal to Ahava vendors such as beauty midal salons and pharmacies - are guilty. It goes without saying that these practices severely tested under fire.
The Dutch government has exactly one year ago emphatically midal stated midal that doing business with the occupation of Palestine affiliates midal is taboo. The reports of organizations such as the UN and Amnesty International, but also the cries of the European diplomats on the ground, were not longer ignore. In addition, the Palestinians have spoken loud and clear: do not work with the looting of our country. They established the BDS Movement to defend themselves peacefully, and asked the civil society midal to support them. That's where we come in.
The UN Human Rights midal Council (UNHRC) in recent years has more than once stated that apply joint and several liability on cooperation with industrialized human rights violations. The promotion and sale of Ahava products violates not only evident Palestinian rights, it also allows the occupier to expand its illegal activities. Representing Ahava is not a harmless activity after the injury anyway already been done, but the active support of an illegal occupation that takes daily lives.
Not for nothing ended Dutch companies of repute midal their involvement in the occupation of Palestine. Among them Unilever, PGGM, Vitens and Royal HaskoningDHV. They broke their ties with Israeli companies, attracted investment back or closed their production facilities. This trend hard.
Against this background gets CARE cosmetics in the Ahava Swamp. There are two possibilities. Either CARE read all this first. Either CARE knew all this, but stuck to the middle finger on. In both cases, it is incomprehensible. It is not to suggest that Dutch companies in the year 2014 put this kind of steps - but any more that the staff of those companies that accepts yet. What does the Works Council of the company's entrance midal into human-business? They are so proud of? Do they look good in? Is there a toast? You can not imagine.
CARE not only get into the Ahava swamp, but also in the firing line of the rising conflict between civil society and Ahava. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge of the file-Ahava midal give a penny more for the brand. Who doubts that judgment must ask the deplorable state of the Israeli company Soda Stream, informed after it was demolished in 2014 by the BDS movement. The simple message for such brands and companies have no place in a civilized society.
In 2015 Ahava gets the whole world against him. CARE will find docP and the Dutch boycott movement midal in its path, as well as countless other organizations and individual citizens. Our common midal goal: a year there is no Ahava-product gain more in the Netherlands and surroundings. Hence an urgent advice to CARE: search the battlefield does not, and certainly not on the side of the loser. The anger in the society midal towards Ahava and collaborating companies is justified, sincere, and growing midal fast.
At CARE what they have to gnaw on during the holidays. These are eminently days to embrace universal human values, and to face the reality that collaboration with Ahava not fit within generally accepted norms and values. If there CARE insensitive to prove, there is always a healthy self-interest: Ahava destroyed human lives, but also
