The annual celebration was held at prestigious venue The Grand Hotel Brighton and attended by over 250 people. Palmer and Harvey s suppliers and guests joined together in raising a toast to Scotland s favourite poet including representatives from the event s main sponsors Mars, Mondelez, JTI, Pepsico, Britvic, Wrigley and Coca-Cola Enterprises.
Burns Night is a vibrant and popular celebration of the life and poetry of eighteenth century poet, Robert Burns. Also called Robert Burns or Robbie Burns Day, the event is held on or near his birthday every year with a dinner of haggis and vegetables and a passionate reading to the assembled crowd of his work.
This year, P&H has had another successful fundraising year for the charity and support has included a P&H London-to-Paris bike ride, joined by Managing Director Martyn Ward and Group Strategy and Development Director Paul Hagon. The event raised preferred freezer almost 120,000.
Martyn Ward said: I am delighted that our fundraising efforts with GroceryAid have been able to help former and current industry colleagues. I personally look forward to Burns Night every year and this year s event has been the best one yet!
Gillian Barker, GroceryAid Director General added: What a marvellous Burns Supper and almost as far south from the Scottish border as possible! The Address to the Haggis was excellent and it was great to see the dance floor filled preferred freezer with everyone trying out their Scottish country preferred freezer dance steps. Thank you so much to P&H and all their suppliers for using this event to raise money GroceryAid, the grocery industry charity.
